Key Largo - Frater Albertus
Key Largo: The fans turn lazily in front of the door They open wide showing mangroves galore An egret in the everglades stalks its prey Haltingly it walks along its way On another bright and sunny day A woman's floppy hat shades her beauty not so brittle The silken scarf that holds the hat flutters just a little She pauses in the threshold of the door Surveying what she's looking for She is looking straight at me Her beauty flaunted all to see. 'Where are you from?' while noticing I had a frown On the other couch she elegantly sits down In the small hotel lobby bar 'A city north and very far.' My heart begins a frantic beat Her flush was not just from the heat. 'Let me guess? Toronto, it is pretty' 'A New Yorker?.. It is gritty.' The open lobby with chaises rattan Encompassed us as the hours ran Mimosas came and munchies went Philosophizing led us to invent All manner of reasons the head to spin While we shared a special grin. A friend of depth and through much time When years after the greatest crime I returned to the lobby of that Inn Recalling how she cooed Remembering that special mood We never got to raise a brood The waitress noticed as I cried I mumbled 'She should not have died'. FRATER ALBERTUS MAGNUS: He huddles over the little bowl I've been told He expects my arrival so I am bold I wait in a room on the ground floor And wonder what's behind the massive door I inspect its' symbols, carved complete I recognize Bathomet down near my feet Ptah's T-square and gargoyles replete A 'spagyric' toque, a familiar eye On top the Pyramid reaching for the sky, And You might wonder why, am I Here in Salt Lake City to see Frater Albertus Magnus The leader of a worldwide group some call the 'Magus'. He comes to greet me from downstairs Cobwebs dangle from his hairs His look and manner are quite welcoming I feel almost like it's my homecoming 'Hello my son, you come, well recommended' Before that night was therein ended I learned the truth about 'the Stone' Now with means and methods known He told me of his looking into man's future And we talked of ways that WE must nurture The iron 'hot' to strike it, NOW! I told him soon I'd make the' Vow'! However, another pact I'd make Which led my knees to ever quake There is truth of many things Do not worry about 'toe rings' The twitching touches nerves complete Can sense the earth beneath your feet And lead you past your 'vision quest' Make you at home on Gaia's breast 'I wish you well along your WAY!' The door he closed, I heard him say! No, call for elixir of youth for me No gold from lead are NEED for me I wait with all, the World to see My 'vow' to join soul quite FREE And all in all, LOVE with the 'World Mind' For me - you might think is seldom kind! There are several reasons for this, but two in particular come to mind. Chan Chan and The Gorriones (Two Poems in English and Spanish) The following two poems, one in English, the other in English and Spanish were done during this ongoing trip in Peru, while in Lima, although the poem concerning: Chan Chan was oriinally started last year, while at the ancient site in Northern Peru, it was just finished recently. The Gorriones of LimaIt is fall all around me-The Gorriones are swimming in the airUnderneath the Lima skyAs if-, if fish could fly?Summer has gone its wayIt is fall again I say!The birds-, they just walk on byLooking, as if, if on parade-AndThe world keeps spinning; They just do not see itUntil the hour comes? When the sun goes down!?When,Things get a little dim;Yet the Gorriones keep on swimmingGracefully, swimming, in the wind-Under the Lima sky? . Antidotes for an Alibi Amy King's first full-length collection, Antidotes for an Alibi, insists that we examine the deceptive clarity of our actions and the goals that motivate us. How does one actually get from "A" to "B"-and is there ever really a "B"? What color is the white space between "A" and "B"? Upon closer inspection, surface realities reveal themselves to be porous and fragile, layered with textures and grains that lead the eye on varying pathways. Ive Learned You cannot make someone love you. All you can do is be someone who can be loved. Live For Today... Isn't that what they say?But what does that mean? There's no definition that mayanswer that question.. Two Poems Written During Recovery Since my wife and I are moving, or preparing to move, we've been going through our things as most people must, to prepare for the new location, and in doing so, I found two poems, ones I wrote in 1990, now 15-years old, never published, and so I'd like to publish them today. I was a heavy drinker up to 1984 (some twenty years drinking), when I quite, and so these poems must have something to do with it, a slight reflection perhaps. Why I enjoy Writing? During interviews and general conversations with the public, one of the most difficult questions for me to answer(timely and thoroughly) is,"Why do you enjoy writing"?So due to the challenge manifested in such a question,I pondered on creating an answer. Many reasons came to mind, but after digesting much"time for thought",I managed to condense my response to three items. In The Midst Of All In the midst of darkness, there is light. In the midst of evil, there is virtue. Little Girl from Huancayo [a poem/in English and Spanish] Little girl from HuancayoDo you really, really know?Just how fast those feet will grow,On the streets of Huancayo.Little girl with jumping jacksOn the street, looking back;Back to see whose watching her,A little boy with a bird. Learn About Love From Poet Rumi In this modern age of technology, busy lifestyles, and obsession with consumerism have taken a lot of the romance and love out of our lives. The Internet has become a medium to connect with people as everyone is finding it a lot harder to meet one another in the 'real' world. Passion and Poetry, and Life Ironically, the passion that can neutralize the repulsion for difficulties depends on the effort to overcome these difficulties. The irony resides in the circularity of this principle - which applies to all areas of activity, including poetry: One must make the effort to overcome difficulties to achieve success and feel capable, and one needs this achievement and feeling to have a passion for making this effort. To My Friend, With Love All is still; all quiet; The world seems to be at peace. My soul is singing its rhythmic melodyAnd I'm led like in a trance to write its tunes.
