Question #2:

Who was the famous female who said that if you have time to write about about your life, you're not living.?

I want to say it was Anais Nin but that would seem to go against type since she was a writer about her experiences. I know it was someone who was prolific during the first half of the 20th century.

Question #3:

Have you ever seen a quote/phrase etc. that inspired you?

One of mine is on my profile. The other ones I like are: "Just when the caterpillar thought the world was over, it became a butterfly," and "And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom." - Anais Nin.
When I heard these quotes I really stopped in my tracks because they truly spoke to me, I know it sounds totally cheezy but they did. I use their "advice" almost everyday, espeically the one on my profile. I LOVE that one. You can never and will never imprison MY mind!
What about you?

Question #4:

Would like to have Anais Nin's Risk poem translated into French?

I have seen a couple of different translations, but would like the most appropriate and grammatically correct version. The English version reads:

And then the day came,
when the risk
to remain tight
in a bud
was more painful
than the risk
it took
to Blossom.

And I have found a translation that reads:

Et le jour est venu quand le risque à rester fortement dans un bourgeon était plus douloureux que le risque qu'il a pris à la fleur.

I just want to make sure this is the correct translation and that the grammar is correct. I have googled it, so if any French speakers can check it that would be brilliant. Thanks!

Question #5:

Discuss this controversial quote?

"I do not want to be the leader. I refuse to be the leader. I want to live darkly and richly in my femaleness. I want a man lying over me, always over me. His will, his pleasure, his desire, his life, his work, his sexuality the touchstone, the command, my pivot. I don't mind working, holding my ground intellectually, artistically; but as a woman, oh, God, as a woman I want to be dominated.
I don't mind being told to stand on my own feet, not to cling, be all that I am capable of doing, but I am going to be pursued, fucked, possessed by the will of a male at his time, his bidding."

-Anais Nin

I'm supposed to write an essay about it over the summer. I think I'll have plenty to write about..mainly because I love the quote.

Thoughts?
I don't think it suggests that she can't cope without a man...she basically says that she could, but she doesn't want to.

Question #15:

Writing Erotica fiction professionally. Is this literary genre popular?

I have recently read The Delta Venus by Anais Nin and am further inspired to write Erotica, although it seems this genre is frowned upon or overlooked by more 'sophisticated' literature. Can anyone advise me on whether one can make a living out of this sort of writing? According to consensus, most women find 'sexy' novels to be trashy; I think this is an unfair portrait as Anais Nin as proven. If one can make the style of writing poetically 'sexy' to compliment the scene then perhaps such novels would be more widely read. Any thoughts appreciated and thanks in advance!
