This is one of the largest images I've ever done and was definitely a big step forward. It still isn't finished, however; I've been busy! Anyway, it was based on an engraving done for the section about Baal in Colin De Plancy's Dictionnaire Infernal. I used Barney Frank's face for a reference since he's really jowly and his voice was the first thing to come to mind when I read Bael's voice is, according to earwitnesses, very hoarse.
This drawing still isn't finished, but I did want to share. What you see here took place over about a month's time a few hours each day. I hope to finish it by the middle of next year and share the final product, but I make no promises!
Okay. More of a wave than a whimper. One small step/act of creation. A Not-so-Big Bang!
But the letters danced against interpretation, against the tendency to remain at rest. The
wave that broke the stasis. The plough that broke the plane of in=difference. A loco-
motion that made the text sing, dance and finally phone home.
A wind is rising and the river flows.
Accelerando, allargando. Motor cooled down. The tide rose, and the wave
stirred, however metaphorically, more than the still waters of 21st century passivity. Like a wave that is made wildly while running into the madding crowd: Ooop shoop, Da Doo Ron Ron. Bang, Bang, shoot-shoot. Good golly, Miss Molly!
