Black and White: Day 27 of 30
To accompany this here picture of some of my bells, I give you one of my favorite poems... or at least part of it... by Edgar Allen Poe. I was first introduced to the poem by a good friend, Shane Clifford, who used it as a warm-up in the theatre when he directed a play and gave me the honor of stage managing it. (I thought he was pretty awesome). I've never forgotten the poem since.
Random Fact: I didn't originally learn it with these exact words.
The Bells by Edgar Allen Poe
I
Hear the sledges with the bells -
Silver bells!
What a world of merriment their melody foretells!
How they tinkle, tinkle, tinkle,
In the icy air of night!
While the stars that oversprinkle
All the heavens seem to twinkle
With a crystalline delight;
Keeping time, time, time,
In a sort of Runic rhyme,
To the tintinnabulation that so musically wells
From the bells, bells, bells, bells,
Bells, bells, bells -
From the jingling and the tinkling of the bells.
Read the rest.
