Venue for Natalie Goldberg's first large workshop. Over 70 of us spent the intense two days furiously pouring ourselves into our notebooks. Rule Number One: Keep Your Hand Moving.

This was a ticketed event at Malaprops in Asheville, NC. Natalie Goldberg is a writer and teacher among other things. Her story is varied and interesting and the store was packed with budding writers and people of art. I waited in a long line to secure a word and an autograph. She worked so hard, she never really looked up at the camera, but in this shot when I zoom in, I can see that she is autographing my copy of her new work, Old Friend from Far Away, a book on writing memoir. It makes me smile.
She was delightful, I took some notes and hope that I will be able to transcribe them soon. For now, here she is, Natalie Goldberg. It is no accident that her pen and the page seem to shine.

I took the most recent book "Old Friend from Far Away." One person got all eleven of Natalie's books signed.

Detail from Natalie Goldberg at Bookworks in Albuquerque, signing her book Old Friend from Far Away: The Practice of Writing Memoir. Photo used in red Ravine post, "To Everyone, With Love."
My blog partner, QuoinMonkey, began a series called "Writers' Hands." This photo is in the fashion of QM's series but not of it. Deep bow to QM for the inspiration.
