Trailer for "Slumber Party Massacre" from 1982!! You just can't beat that title! Watch for the "Halloween" rip-off of the body hanging from above falling onto unsuspecting victims, as well as the body in the fridge that reminds me of the scene in "Rabid." Once again, we have a ruthless maniac on the loose, dispatching nubile teens (who actually look to be pushing 30). The phallic nature of the murder weapon and frequent accompanying camera set-ups leave little doubt as to what the killer's true motives are in this flick- perhaps he's a little impotent or has some issues?!?! All your typical conservative sources were in the usual uproar over this film, but the fact is it was written AND directed by women. So, maybe they were responsible for the silly phallic drill murder scenes, or maybe they just wanted to tweak the noses of the conservatives, or maybe they wanted to put out a parody of the ultra-male slasher genre, or maybe they just didn't give a crap about gender stereotypes. The point is this flick defies automatic categorization, which lends a unique layer of thought and debate not frequently associated with the horror genre, and especially not the slasher genre.
