This long, 135-minute feature is divided into four different segments, three highlighting fairy tales and the first introducing the two Brothers Grimm. Wilhelm (Laurence Harvey) is the dreamer, and Jacob (Karl Boehm) is the practical one, and between them, some marvelous fairy tales develop. Seguing into the first tale about the "Dancing Princess," co-directors Henry Levin and George Pal -- also the producer -- allow their special-effects artists full rein. In-between dancing, the princess (Yvette Mimieux) falls in love with a charming woodsman (Russ Tamblyn). In the second story about the "Cobbler and the Elves," a Christmas miracle of dedicated labor helps the cobbler out when he most needs it. In the last story, a fire-breathing dragon threatens the kingdom until a lowly servant (Buddy Hackett) saves the day. One of the highlights of this production are the Puppetoons, and another is Cinerama -- three projectors working to create a three-paneled (sometimes visibly so), wide-screen panorama. Laurence Harvey - Wilhelm Grimm / The Cobbler Claire Bloom - Dorothea Grimm Walter Slezak - Stossel Barbara Eden - Greta Heinrich Oscar Homolka - The Duke Arnold Stang - Rumpelstiltskin Martita Hunt - Story Teller Ian Wolfe - Gruber Betty Garde - Miss Bettenhausen Cheerio Meredith - Mrs. Von Dittersdorf Bryan Russell - Freidrich Grimm Tammy Marihugh - Pauline Grimm Walter Rilia - Priest Yvette Mimieux - The Princess Russ Tamblyn - The Woodsman Jim Backus - The King Beulah Bondi - The Gypsy Clinton Sundberg - The Prime Minister Walter Brooke - The Mayor Sandra Gale Bettin - The Ballerina Robert Foulk - The Hunter Buddy Hackett - Hans Otto Kruger - The King Robert Crawford, Jr. - The Shepherd Sydney Smith - The Spokesman Karl Heinz Böhm - Jacob Grimm Terry-Thomas - Ludwig Peter Whitney - The Giant

Walter Hill's hip, super-stylized action film unfurls in a dystopian near-future, when various gangs control New York City. Each gang sports a unique moniker ('The Warriors,' 'The Baseball Furies,' 'The Rogues'), with a costume underscoring its "theme"; each, in turn, is also responsible for one geographic area. Hill sets up the landscape as a massive, violent playground - replete with bridges, vacant subway tunnels, parks, abandoned buildings and the like, all ripe for exploration and adventure. As the tale opens, the titular Coney Island has traveled to the Bronx to attend a city-wide meeting of all gangs; at that event, however, the psychotic leader of a rival gang, The Rogues (David Patrick Kelly of Dreamscape) assassinates the head of the city's foremost gang, but The Warriors are pegged as culpable. This sends the gang fleeing through the labyrinthine city. With every thug in Manhattan in vicious, homicidal pursuit, they must also overcome all obstacles in their way. Throughout, Hill keeps the onscreen violence absurd, exaggerated and unrealistic, downplaying death to an extreme degree; despite this fact, the film sparked a massive amount of controversy and an ugly backlash for allegedly inciting violence and destruction in several theaters where it initially played. James Remar, Michael Beck and Deborah Van Valkenburgh lead the ensemble cast. Michael Beck - Swan James Remar - Ajax David Patrick Kelly - Luther Thomas G. It is a society that is, officially, a haven for its citizens. Superior to the decadent West, the Soviet Union under Stalin strives to be a paradise for its workers, providing for all their needs: education, health care, and security. In exchange, all that is required is their hard work, and their loyalty to and faith in the Soviet State. Leo Demidov knows this better than most. A rising, prominent officer in the state security force, he is a former war hero whose only ambition is to serve his country. To defend this workers' paradise, and to guarantee a secure life for his parents and his wife, Raisa, Leo has spent his career suppressing ideological crimes against the state—crimes of thought, of disloyalty, and of counterrevolution. But then the impossible happens. A serial killer is on the loose inside the workers' paradise. At the same time, Leo finds himself demoted and denounced by his enemies, and all but sentenced to death. To save his life and the lives of his family, he must confront the vast resources and reach of the security forces—to stop a criminal that the state won't even admit exists.
