Virginia Wolf Questions & Answers

Resolved Question: Are Wolf Hybrids Legal In Virginia?
I have had them for about 15 years and I'm planning on moving to Virginia, and I'd like to know if they are legal there, I hope they are because I'd like to move soon. Thanks

Resolved Question: what is the virginia law on owning a wolf?

Resolved Question: End of The 10th Kigndom...?
"I'd like to say that Wolf and I lived happily ever after, but our lives were almost immediately interrupted by another crisis in the kingdoms. But that's not this story; this story is done. And when you live every day with all your heart then you can be happy ever after, even if it's only a short time. My name is Virginia... and I live on the edge of the forest. And this is the end of the first book of The 10th Kingdom." Does something she says refer to a fairy tale? Or was this simply a set-up for a sequel? Like when she says that their lives were interrupted...

Voting Question: Is it legal to own a wolf or a wolf-hybrid as a pet in Virginia? I swear someone walked by with one yesterday?
I have done some research into raising wolves and it seems extremely difficult. If it is not legal in VA, does anyone know which states do allow people to raise wolves as pets?

Voting Question: Which book is best, and why?
Can you explain why you liked any of these books if you've read them. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Airborn by Kenneth Oppel In a swashbuckling adventure reminiscent of Jules Verne and Robert Louis Stevenson, Kenneth Oppel, author of the best-selling Silverwing trilogy, creates an imagined world in which the air is populated by transcontinental voyagers, pirates, and beings never before dreamed of by the humans who sail the skies. (E) Acceleration by Graham McNamee Seventeen-year-old Duncan is haunted by the fact that he was unable to save a drowning girl a few yards away one fateful afternoon the previous September. This summer he has a job working underground at the Toronto subway lost and found where he uncovers, amid the piles of forgotten junk, an opportunity to exorcise his own guilty demons. (M) Bless the Beasts and Children by Glendon Swarthout Touching story of the castaway of parents too busy traveling, being divorced, remarrying and garnering fortunes to pay him any attention. The scene is Box Canyon Boys Camp, where the motto is, “Send us a boy – we’ll send you a cowboy.” (E) The Boys of Summer by Roger Kahn The mid-20th-century Brooklyn Dodgers was a team of great triumph and historical import. Roger Kahn, who covered that team for the New York Herald Tribune, chronicles the dreams and exploits of his heroes’ lives, intertwining them with his own. (E) Call of the Wild by Jack London Story of life in the Klondike. The hero, a St. Bernard dog, finally obeys the call of the wild and leads a pack of wolves because his last best friend has been killed. (E) Ceremony by Leslie Marmon Silko The story of a Laguna Pueblo man who returns from World War II deep in trauma, believing he has brought on a drought by cursing the rain that ruined his attempts to save his brother. The novel tells the story of his return to the center of the web of humanity and the world. (M) Childhood’s End by Arthur Clarke Science fiction concerned with the relationship between the Overlords, an immensely powerful but benign race of aliens whose spaceship suddenly appears in the sky to help mankind evolve to a new stage of development. (M) The Chosen by Chaim Potok Although they came from entirely different worlds, two Jewish boys in Brooklyn in the 1940’s develop a strange and intensifying relationship. (M) Cold Sassy Tree by Olive Ann Burns E. Rucker Blakeslee, proprietor of the general store and barely three weeks a widower, elopes with Miss Love Simpson -- a woman half his age and, worse yet, a Yankee! Thus, fourteen-year-old Will Tweedy's adventures begin, and an unimpeachably pious, deliciously irreverent town comes to life. (M/C) Colors of the Mountain by Da Chen Da Chen describes his youth in mainland China with engaging humor and affecting warmth. It’s often a harrowing tale: born in 1962, Chen was the grandson of a landlord, which rendered his entire family pariahs during the Cultural Revolution. And though initially an excellent student, he was ostracized in school and told he could never attend college. He responded by making friends with a group of young thugs who drank, smoke, and gambled but were kind to him. After Mao died in 1976, the budding juvenile delinquent discovered that higher education might be available to him after all. Chen worked hard to make up for years of neglected studies, and his memoir closes with a jubilant scene as he and his brother Jin are both accepted into college; for his suffering family, “thirty years of humiliation has suddenly come to an end.” (M) The Color of Water by James McBride This memoir tells the remarkable story of Ruth McBride Jordan, the two good men she married, and the twelve good children she raised. Jordan, born Rachel Shilsky, a Polish Jew, immigrated to America soon after birth; as an adult she moved to New York City, leaving her family and faith behind in Virginia. Jordan met and married a black man, making her isolation even more profound. The book is a success story, a testament to one woman's true heart, solid values, and indomitable will. Ruth Jordan battled not only racism but also poverty to raise her children and, despite being sorely tested, never wavered. In telling her story--along with her son's--The Color of Water addresses racial identity with compassion, insight, and realism. It is, in a word, inspiring, and you will finish it with unalloyed admiration for a flawed but remarkable individual. (M) The Dark Light by Mette Newth Young Tora becomes an outcast from her Norwegian village when it is discovered that she has contracted leprosy. (M/E) Death Be Not Proud: A Memoir by John Gunther A memoir to John Gunther’s seventeen-year-old son, who died after a series of operations for a brain tumor. Not only a tribute to a remarkable boy but also an account of a brave fight against disease. (M) Downtown by Ed McBain This madcap escapade finds a

Resolved Question: Is there more books of "The 10th Kingdom" ??? Please answer!?
Because at the end, it leads you to believe so by saying: "I'd like to say that Wolf and I lived happily ever after, but our lives were almost immediately interrupted by another crisis in the kingdoms. But that's not this story; this story is done. And when you live every day with all your heart then you can be happy ever after, even if it's only a short time. Resolved Question: What is the style called?
What is the name of the style of authors like W. Somerset Maugham or Virginia Wolf. You know the first people to ever really get into deep stuff with their characters. Where as people like Dickens just compiled what they looked like and what they did, they really made them human. What is that called? I understand that Maugham and Woolf (thanks for the correction by the way) are very different from Dickens. I was simply bringing him up as a contrast in order to clarify my question.

Resolved Question: What films do you think are important?
Let me define my terms. I am not a fan of Tom Hanks but i thought that Saving Private Ryan was an important movie due to the opening 20 minutes regarding how the reality of war was shown. So taste aside, what films were either deep, effective, changed your view, moved you or just need to be seen. For me in no particular order.... Planet of the Apes (original) Schindler's List Apocalypse Now Saving Private Ryan Devil's Advocate Who's Afraid of Virginia Wolf Platoon Mississippi Burning okay - Devil's Advocate...... actor's studio time. Test case 101. How to act & how to ham. Reeves deilvers ham.... Resolved Question: Should violent video games receive cigarette-style warnings?
http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/13/and-the-band-fails-on-new-law-seeks-to-put-warning-labels-on-ga/ California Rep. Joe Baca (D) and Virginia Rep. Frank Wolf (R) have introduced a bill that would require cigarette-style warning labels to be placed on games rated "T" or higher by the ESRB. GamePolitics reports that H.R. 231, titled "The Video Game Health Labeling Act of 2009," would require aforementioned games to provide the following notification: "WARNING: Excessive exposure to violent video games and other violent media has been linked to aggressive behavior." Name me one T game which is linked to aggressive behavior. If a 13 year old is playing a M game like GTA , I doubt he will want to steal a helicopter and fly around town shooting shit (again , that isn't really the point of these games , they aren't really shoot everything in sight games and a game like this might actually have a plot?) but I'm POSITIVE that no T game leads to aggressive behavior. They're toned down so much it's not possible. Tell me the Sims 2 or Battlefield 2 leads to violence. It doesn't!

Resolved Question: Which one of these 13 cryptids are more credible to exist?
Ahool Giant unknown bats are reported to reside in a region of western Java, plus similar reports under different names from Vietnam and the Philippines; possibly known as Orang-bati in Seram, Indonesia. Andean Wolf These unrecognized mountain dogs are seen in South America. Bigfoot The classic Sasquatch of the Pacific Northwest is well-grounded in hundreds of years of sightings, encounters, folklore, traditions, hair samples, and footprint evidence, for starters. The Patterson-Gimlin footage captured images in 1967 of what appears to be a good type specimen of this animal. Caddy These unknown Sea Serpents (perhaps Mystery Cetaceans?) living off the coast of British Columbia are a popular figure in Canadian cryptozoology. Champ Giant prehistoric-looking creatures supposedly lurk in Lake Champlain, a 109 mile lake that borders New York, Vermont, and Ontario. Chupacabras Also called “Goatsuckers,” these bizarre Caribbean and South American cryptids are five feet tall biped creatures with short grey hair that have spiked hair and reportedly drain the blood through throat punctures of the livestock they kill. Giant Anaconda Reports have been made of 100 feet long snakes on the Rio Negro of the Amazon River basin. Jersey Devil This regionalized name hides these perhaps a variety of creatures that have been haunting the New Jersey Pineland forest for over 260 years. Mokele-Mbembe For over two hundred years there have been reports of living Sauropods (dinosaur) in the remote Congo area of Africa. They may be confused with accounts of other local cryptids, including aquatic rhinos and monitors. Mothman A local name for giant owls (also called Bighoot) which have been sighted for over 100 years in the West Virginia-Ohio area, and elsewhere in North America. Ogopogo This is Canada’s most famous type of water monster, the specific inhabitants of Lake Okanagan in the south central interior of British Columbia. Thunderbird Large condor-like birds, perhaps Teratorns, appear to still roam the skies of North America, along regular migration routes. Loch Ness Monster Nessie is the most famous Lake Monster in the world; they are said to inhabit this loch, an extremely deep Scottish lake.

Resolved Question: what exactly does Virginia Wolf have to do with the story, The Hours?

Resolved Question: Nicole Kidman Nose Job?
I know very well that all stars / celebrities have plastic / cosmetic surgeries...I want to know if you noticed the same thing I noticed. I watched Nicole Kidman biography on the BIOGRAPHY channel. As you know, they did a chronological tour of her accomplishements and showed pictures / snapshots of her acting. What struck me is how her nose changed since she first started acting. Have you noticed the same thing? What do you think of her new nose? Do you think she would have been as successful if she would have kept her old nose? By the way, she wored a prosthetic nose when she played Virginia Wolf. I wonder if she had other body parts modified. Please be respectful, this question is serious and it is meaningul to me that each one of you tell me what you think. Thank you for taking some of your precious time to answer my question.

Resolved Question: what exotic animals are legal to own in Virginia?
like wolf hybrids, pygmy goat, sheep, duck, chicken, degu, Llamas, pudu, crow/raven, capabara, Patagonian Cavy, paca, alpaca, red fox. i want to get something different, but i dont know what animals are legal in VA. anyone have a link to a site that can help me? i cant find any info... In P W C you can own goats, sheep, ducks, chickens, llamas, and alpacas if you are zoned agricultural and have the adequate amount of land. That information is available through the County’s zoning department. Ferrets and Wolf Hybrids are allowed as pets in households. All the others that you listed are either exotic and not allowed in this county or wild and unable to be kept as pets. You can find out more information on the wildlife by contacting the VA Department of Game and Inland Fisheries. As far as any other counties regulations you would have to check with them. The State and County animal laws are also available online. The County’s ordinances can be accessed at www.pwcgov.org. I hope this helps, Suzette Kapp

Resolved Question: VA Spider Identification?
I live on the eastern coast of Virginia and have recently been seeing alot of these brown spiders around the house. I am familiar with the wolf spider, fishing spider, yellow sac spider, barn spider and cellar spider as these are the usual culprits and this spider is not any of them. The picture is below (unfortunately blurry due to close proximity). The spider was found in the bath tub on a cob-like web. It is brown, approximately 1/2 inch long and has a small mark on the cephalothorax, but not the pronounced violin shape seen in the brown recluse. Any ideas? (the link will provide access to two pictures of the spider) http://s473.photobucket.com/albums/rr95/johvanva/?action=view¤t=DSC02740.jpg

Resolved Question: Wolf chases moose, how far behind is the wolf?
A moose ambles by a wolf burrow. He is 20 meters away. The moose and the wolf spot each other at the same time. The moose runs away perpendicular to the burrow. The wolf gives chase always running towards where the moose currently is. Both the moose and the wolf have a top speed of 10 m/s. What is the closest the wolf gets to the moose? [Dedicated to Virginia Foster, RIP, who once asked this question] ********** This is a cite to a Virginia Foster question: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AtZl0uXIfaJ4tPIVfbbv8ajsy6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20080910154429AAUQqnm Y!A sentenced her to death. Resolved Question: What types of bugs are in Virginia?
I'm considering going to William and Mary, U Virginia or Washington and Lee for college, but I'm deathly afraid of creepy crawly type bugs. I'm from northern Massachusetts, so normally don't have to deal with that problem, and bugs don't get much larger than daddy long legs spiders. I had to take Emory off my list after hearing my aunt recount her experience with wolf spiders in SC, nevermind GA. Thats probably the biggest issue for me: spiders. What types of bugs/spiders would I encounter if I went to these colleges? This is really important, as W&M is my #2, but if I have to deal with spiders constantly, I will be back up north faster than you've ever seen anyone run. Yes go ahead. I'm a damned cowardly Yankee. (If your from MA, ignore that, it doesn't mean what you think... Go Sox!)

Resolved Question: Dropout of High School - Make Lemonade?
I am currently reading the book "Make Lemonade" by Virginia Euwer Wolf and was wondering- If you dropout of High School when you are in 11th or 12th grade, could you still go back to high school in 10 years? 20 years? Just a note- I'm not going to drop out of high school, someone just asked the question in class...

Resolved Question: Navy Decommissioned classes ?

Resolved Question: What do you think now that Iowa, Minnesota, and New Mexico going blue for Obama? Former Bush Strongholds!?
Minnesota (home of the RNC convention)- Obama 53-41 Iowa-55-40 new mexico- 53-40 Obama- 243 McCain- 189 toss-up states are turning out to be bluer and bluer. It's incredible. I think Virginia is next! The blue-collar areas that are republican firewalls are incredibly turning to Barack Obama's side. A lot of the areas Bush carried are going toward Barack and not McCain which is alarming to the republicans. so much for holding the convention by Minnesota. Reported by Wolf Blitzer and John King on CNN's situation room! sorry my mistake: I didn't mean to include minnesota in there. btw Artemis I live in the VA/MD/DC area as well and Obama is heavily favored. I think if he can sweep the north then he can win the state! sorry my mistake: I didn't mean to include minnesota in there. btw Artemis I live in the VA/MD/DC area as well and Obama is heavily favored. I think if he can sweep the north then he can win the state!

Resolved Question: 4 year old drowns in Wolf Lodge water park, VA?
Recently,(June 15 or 16) my class went to Virginia, and we stayed at the Great Wolf Lodge. We got a phone call the same night, and it sounded like a little girl whispering "Amber". So, we thought it was a prank, and we called the front desk, asking who called us. The front desk said no calls have been placed to our room, 3014. We told our teacher this story, and she told us about this little girl named Amber, who drowned at the water park last year on the very same day that we got a phone call. Does anyone know if this is true or not because we tried searching on the internet and it came up with all these others stories, but none of them really matched the information we got. Thanks. Okay, maybe I didn't say this clearly enough, but what I meant was can anyone give me information on this, like if they know it's true or not.
