Every single Republican in the House voted against the $819 billion Recovery Act in January. Including Texas’ Kay Bailey Hutchison and John Cornyn. Hutchison and Cornyn are pressuring the Obama administration to give Texas $3 billion in stimulus funds.
Rep. Frank Wolf (R-VA) is now criticizing Gov. Tim Kaine (D) for being “slow” to spend the stimulus money allocated for Virginia — even though if Wolf and his Republican colleagues would have had their way, there would be no extra money for the state at all. “We could use that money desperately,” Wolf told reporters. “We’re in a critical situation.”
Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA) recently announced two grants totaling $399,875 to Goodwill Industries of Central Iowa and Goodwill Industries of the Heartland through the Homeless Veterans Reintegration program. “These funds will give a hand up to our veterans who have fought bravely and selflessly for our country,” Grassley said. The funds were authorized by the Recovery Act.
Sen. Saxby Chambliss (R-GA) and Sen. Johnny Isakson (R-GA) opposed the stimulus and attacked it as a bloated government giveaway. However, both senators recently asked Robert Gates to steer $50 million in stimulus money for a bio-energy project. Visiting a food bank aided by money from the stimulus, Chambliss exclaimed the other week, “I’m very pleased that the government continues to play a key role, here, from the standpoint of providing food.”
Rep. Mary Fallin (R-OK) — who called the stimulus a “Big Brother spending program” — asked Army Secretary Pete Geren to use $8.4 million in stimulus money for repairs to buildings at two Oklahoma National Guard sites.
Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-OK) in a recent press release from hails $1.9 million in funding for a Claremore regional railroad-based trans-modal facility, noting the investment will “help spur additional economic growth” and that the senator is “happy” about the way the money is being used. Inhofe, of course, makes no mention that the money is authorized by the Recovery Act.
Rep. John Carter (R-TX) opposed the Recovery Act, and recently called the entire program a failure that should be “repealed.” Regardless, Carter’s public pronouncements did not stop him from requesting $621 million in hospital projects from the stimulus — then calling the funds a victory for the economy in central Texas.
I`m writing one other story at the moment. But, this one is about a girl from Kenova, West Virginia. She only has one friend because she doesn`t fit into any of the cliques. She refers to herself as a "Lone Wolf". One night of her sophomore year she throws a message in a bottle into the Ohio River like she and her friend Jessica did as a kids. A Romanian boy later finds it and writes her back. They form a bond through their letters. But, I don`t want a regular Romance or Teen Romance. Like my main girl I`m a lover of the paranormal. I was thinking of making the guy a part of a powerful and feared coven and the girl a Wiccan. But, I want dark forces to endanger the girls life. How can I add to this idea? What should I do
I know Wicca is a religion. I plan to research it when I find the time.

I have to write a poem for class & it has to rhyme. Yet i can't find good words to describe the summary of the book True Believer by Virginia Euwer Wolf.
Summary by Book Browse:When LaVaughn was little, the obstacles in her life didn't seem so bad. If she had a fight with Myrtle or Annie, it would never last long. If she was mad at her mother, they made up by bedtime. School was simple. Boys were buddies. Everything made sense.
But LaVaughn is fifteen and the obstacles aren't going away anymore. Big questions separate her from her friends. Her mother is distracted by a new man. School could slip away from her so easily. And the boy who's a miracle in her life acts just as if he's in love with her. Only he's not in love with her.
I recently read a article in Yahoo's College football blog about Virginia Tech's Defense. They use "Whip" and "Rover" linebackers. I did some further research and Georgia Tech employs a "Wolf" Linebacker and Bama uses a "Jack" linebacker? Is there a difference in the players or do they all have the same responsibilties?
Movies that have a "beauty and the beast"theme thing going..?
OR
like person is evil but finds person they love and turns sorta but not rlly good? Like 10th kingdom with wolf and virginia..? lol
idk something with romance and with a good story plot. Nothing boring.
Oh I also loooooooooooove those scenes where like for ex. the girl is in trouble and then the guy gets mega pissed off and goes to save her and kicks the bad guy ass xD
plz dont say twilight! I own the movie and the books! >o
I know the NFL won't expand withing it's league, but I wondered what cities or states they would use, i figuered they'd do one city or state for each division. Here were my choices of where they could put teams and I just made up a team name for it:
1. Hawaii Tropics: Population - 1,315,011, stadium location: Honolulu, Division: AFC West
2. Nevada Bluebirds (state bird): Population – 2,709,412 Stadium Location: Tonopah, Division: NFC West
3. Portland Travelers (People traveled westward along the Oregon Trail): Population – 596,012 + other Oregon areas. Stadium location: Hood River, Division: NFC North
4. Dakota Stingers (state insect is a bee, and a large reason for states honey production) population – 1,047,003(both North and South Dakota), Stadium location: Bismarck, North Dakota. Division: AFC North
5. Mississippi Wolves: population - 2,302,023 , Stadium Location: Jackson, Mississippi. Division: NFC South
6. Hampton (VA) Knights: population – 152,034 + other Virginia area populations. Stadium Location: Hampton Virginia. Division: AFC East.
7. Minneapolis Convicts: population- 382,716 + other areas. Stadium Location: Minneapolis. Division: NFC East.
8. Tulsa Indians: population – 393,014 + other Oklahoma populations. Stadium location: Tulsa. Division AFC South.
I didn't put LA in there because, LA is near San Diego, and most people there already have a team favorite. Please comment on mine and tell yours. Cheers.

I'm very much aware that few if any will care to respond to my question. Nevertheless, I'm willing to risk there not being any responses. For any interested, Wikipedia was my principal reference source(and I apologize for any misspellings):
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Impressionism#Main_Impressionists
The "specifics" of my question:
Can you correlate relative to your individual "taste"(what else could it be?), any three members of the below given three categories of painters, composers and authors with each other, in terms of any set of three evoking similar feelings or moods?
Example: Claude Monet/Claude Debussy/Charles Baudelaire.
Should you choose to respond, please, no "quibbling" regarding my choices and absolutely NO SUBSTITUTES: if you don wish to follow my guidelines, then please don't respond((and it would very nice, if you could post any links(of paintings, musical selections, poems/novels, etc)).
Painters:
Claude Monet
Camille Pissarro
Pierre-Auguste Renoir
Edgar Degas
Paul Cezanne
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Composers:
Claude Debussy
Maurice Ravel
Erik Satie
Ottorino Respighi
Frederick Delius
---------------------------------------------------------
Authors:
Charles Baudelaire
Virginia Wolf
Joseph Conrad
Stephanie Mallarme
Paul Verlaine
I realize that some of the above are controversial regarding inclusion within an "Impressionist" context; but again, please, no quibbling.

"MissLimLam": you are absolutely amazing; if there are no other responses to this question, it still would have been very worthwhile posting, solely for your response - many thanks.
--------------------------------------------------------
Thanks to you all for your responses.
Much appreciate your time and effort - know that such a question is more demanding than most.
A really difficult choice to choose a best one.
I have had them for about 15 years and I'm planning on moving to Virginia, and I'd like to know if they are legal there, I hope they are because I'd like to move soon.
Thanks
"I'd like to say that Wolf and I lived happily ever after, but our lives were almost immediately interrupted by another crisis in the kingdoms. But that's not this story; this story is done. And when you live every day with all your heart then you can be happy ever after, even if it's only a short time.
My name is Virginia... and I live on the edge of the forest. And this is the end of the first book of The 10th Kingdom."
Does something she says refer to a fairy tale? Or was this simply a set-up for a sequel? Like when she says that their lives were interrupted...
I have done some research into raising wolves and it seems extremely difficult. If it is not legal in VA, does anyone know which states do allow people to raise wolves as pets?
Can you explain why you liked any of these books if you've read them.

Airborn by Kenneth Oppel
In a swashbuckling adventure reminiscent of Jules Verne and Robert Louis Stevenson, Kenneth Oppel, author of the best-selling Silverwing trilogy, creates an imagined world in which the air is populated by transcontinental voyagers, pirates, and beings never before dreamed of by the humans who sail the skies. (E)
Acceleration by Graham McNamee

This summer he has a job working underground at the Toronto subway lost and found where he uncovers, amid the piles of forgotten junk, an opportunity to exorcise his own guilty demons. (M)
Bless the Beasts and Children by Glendon Swarthout
Touching story of the castaway of parents too busy traveling, being divorced, remarrying and garnering fortunes to pay him any attention. The scene is Box Canyon Boys Camp, where the motto is, “Send us a boy – we’ll send you a cowboy.” (E)
The Boys of Summer by Roger Kahn
The mid-20th-century Brooklyn Dodgers was a team of great triumph and historical import. Roger Kahn, who covered that team for the New York Herald Tribune, chronicles the dreams and exploits of his heroes’ lives, intertwining them with his own. (E)
Call of the Wild by Jack London
Story of life in the Klondike. The hero, a St. Bernard dog, finally obeys the call of the wild and leads a pack of wolves because his last best friend has been killed. (E)
Ceremony by Leslie Marmon Silko
The story of a Laguna Pueblo man who returns from World War II deep in trauma, believing he has brought on a drought by cursing the rain that ruined his attempts to save his brother. The novel tells the story of his return to the center of the web of humanity and the world. (M)
Childhood’s End by Arthur Clarke

The Chosen by Chaim Potok

Cold Sassy Tree by Olive Ann Burns
E. Rucker Blakeslee, proprietor of the general store and barely three weeks a widower, elopes with Miss Love Simpson -- a woman half his age and, worse yet, a Yankee! Thus, fourteen-year-old Will Tweedy's adventures begin, and an unimpeachably pious, deliciously irreverent town comes to life. (M/C)
Colors of the Mountain by Da Chen
Da Chen describes his youth in mainland China with engaging humor and affecting warmth. It’s often a harrowing tale: born in 1962, Chen was the grandson of a landlord, which rendered his entire family pariahs during the Cultural Revolution. And though initially an excellent student, he was ostracized in school and told he could never attend college. He responded by making friends with a group of young thugs who drank, smoke, and gambled but were kind to him. After Mao died in 1976, the budding juvenile delinquent discovered that higher education might be available to him after all. Chen worked hard to make up for years of neglected studies, and his memoir closes with a jubilant scene as he and his brother Jin are both accepted into college; for his suffering family, “thirty years of humiliation has suddenly come to an end.” (M)
The Color of Water by James McBride
This memoir tells the remarkable story of Ruth McBride Jordan, the two good men she married, and the twelve good children she raised. Jordan, born Rachel Shilsky, a Polish Jew, immigrated to America soon after birth; as an adult she moved to New York City, leaving her family and faith behind in Virginia. Jordan met and married a black man, making her isolation even more profound. The book is a success story, a testament to one woman's true heart, solid values, and indomitable will. Ruth Jordan battled not only racism but also poverty to raise her children and, despite being sorely tested, never wavered. In telling her story--along with her son's--The Color of Water addresses racial identity with compassion, insight, and realism. It is, in a word, inspiring, and you will finish it with unalloyed admiration for a flawed but remarkable individual. (M)
The Dark Light by Mette Newth
Young Tora becomes an outcast from her Norwegian village when it is discovered that she has contracted leprosy. (M/E)
Death Be Not Proud: A Memoir by John Gunther
A memoir to John Gunther’s seventeen-year-old son, who died after a series of operations for a brain tumor. Not only a tribute to a remarkable boy but also an account of a brave fight against disease. (M)

The two obvious choices would be either Jane Austen or George Elliot, although Virginia Wolf also has to rank highly, but who would you say is the greatest?
Because at the end, it leads you to believe so by saying:
"I'd like to say that Wolf and I lived happily ever after, but our lives were almost immediately interrupted by another crisis in the kingdoms. But that's not this story; this story is done. And when you live every day with all your heart then you can be happy ever after, even if it's only a short time.
My name is Virginia... and I live on the edge of the forest. And this is the end of the first book of The 10th Kingdom."

What is the name of the style of authors like W. Somerset Maugham or Virginia Wolf. You know the first people to ever really get into deep stuff with their characters. Where as people like Dickens just compiled what they looked like and what they did, they really made them human. What is that called?
I understand that Maugham and Woolf (thanks for the correction by the way) are very different from Dickens. I was simply bringing him up as a contrast in order to clarify my question.

NOTICE: I do not feature more than one film from the same director. Which is why there is an absence of many of Hitchcock's other masterpieces. "Sling Blade" is a very good movie, but not exceptional to me. ;-)
Leon: The Professional (International Version) - Came super duper close to making it!
Heat - love it - one of its year best - but not all time
Cool Hand Luke - Came close.
There Will Be Blood - already had a PTA movie on there, but its seriously a terrific, great, super fantastic film. :-)
Thanks for the recommends. Cuz I do love those films.

College kid from Virginia, comes, and ends up with a group of kids that secretly play this game. The game has something to do with a killer and something about wolves. Someone ends up killing everyone in the group by acctual playing out the game, the guy ends up falling in love with a chick from that group, but finds out she was the killer.
Let me define my terms. I am not a fan of Tom Hanks but i thought that Saving Private Ryan was an important movie due to the opening 20 minutes regarding how the reality of war was shown. So taste aside, what films were either deep, effective, changed your view, moved you or just need to be seen.
For me in no particular order....
Planet of the Apes (original)
Schindler's List
Apocalypse Now
Saving Private Ryan
Devil's Advocate
Who's Afraid of Virginia Wolf
Platoon
Mississippi Burning
okay - Devil's Advocate...... actor's studio time. Test case 101. How to act & how to ham.
Reeves deilvers ham.... Pacino delivers soliloquy . . . as they should be......

http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/13/and-the-band-fails-on-new-law-seeks-to-put-warning-labels-on-ga/
California Rep. Joe Baca (D) and Virginia Rep. Frank Wolf (R) have introduced a bill that would require cigarette-style warning labels to be placed on games rated "T" or higher by the ESRB. GamePolitics reports that H.R. 231, titled "The Video Game Health Labeling Act of 2009," would require aforementioned games to provide the following notification: "WARNING: Excessive exposure to violent video games and other violent media has been linked to aggressive behavior."
Name me one T game which is linked to aggressive behavior. If a 13 year old is playing a M game like GTA , I doubt he will want to steal a helicopter and fly around town shooting shit (again , that isn't really the point of these games , they aren't really shoot everything in sight games and a game like this might actually have a plot?) but I'm POSITIVE that no T game leads to aggressive behavior. They're toned down so much it's not possible. Tell me the Sims 2 or Battlefield 2 leads to violence. It doesn't!
Good Morning all!

What is there to do at Bush Gardens In Williamsberg Virginia, (a.k.a. Europe) other than big roller coasters like the Griffon, Lochness Monster, and the Big Bad Wolf. I don't like roller coasters, so I was wondering what there is to do there other than the roller coasters. I went on the website and it didn't tell me anything.
-Thanks
Ahool
Giant unknown bats are reported to reside in a region of western Java, plus similar reports under different names from Vietnam and the Philippines; possibly known as Orang-bati in Seram, Indonesia.
Andean Wolf
These unrecognized mountain dogs are seen in South America.
Bigfoot
The classic Sasquatch of the Pacific Northwest is well-grounded in hundreds of years of sightings, encounters, folklore, traditions, hair samples, and footprint evidence, for starters. The Patterson-Gimlin footage captured images in 1967 of what appears to be a good type specimen of this animal.
Caddy
These unknown Sea Serpents (perhaps Mystery Cetaceans?) living off the coast of British Columbia are a popular figure in Canadian cryptozoology.
Champ
Giant prehistoric-looking creatures supposedly lurk in Lake Champlain, a 109 mile lake that borders New York, Vermont, and Ontario.
Chupacabras
Also called “Goatsuckers,” these bizarre Caribbean and South American cryptids are five feet tall biped creatures with short grey hair that have spiked hair and reportedly drain the blood through throat punctures of the livestock they kill.
Giant Anaconda
Reports have been made of 100 feet long snakes on the Rio Negro of the Amazon River basin.
Jersey Devil
This regionalized name hides these perhaps a variety of creatures that have been haunting the New Jersey Pineland forest for over 260 years.
Mokele-Mbembe
For over two hundred years there have been reports of living Sauropods (dinosaur) in the remote Congo area of Africa. They may be confused with accounts of other local cryptids, including aquatic rhinos and monitors.
Mothman
A local name for giant owls (also called Bighoot) which have been sighted for over 100 years in the West Virginia-Ohio area, and elsewhere in North America.
Ogopogo
This is Canada’s most famous type of water monster, the specific inhabitants of Lake Okanagan in the south central interior of British Columbia.
Thunderbird
Large condor-like birds, perhaps Teratorns, appear to still roam the skies of North America, along regular migration routes.
Loch Ness Monster
Nessie is the most famous Lake Monster in the world; they are said to inhabit this loch, an extremely deep Scottish lake.
Not just someone you heard about. I just met this young woman who has two sons ages 4 and 2. Their names?
Coyote Night
Timber Wolf
BTW I live in the Chicago suburbs, not West Virginia or somewhere I may expect those names.
Your turn!
I know very well that all stars / celebrities have plastic / cosmetic surgeries...I want to know if you noticed the same thing I noticed. I watched Nicole Kidman biography on the BIOGRAPHY channel.
As you know, they did a chronological tour of her accomplishements and showed pictures / snapshots of her acting. What struck me is how her nose changed since she first started acting.
Have you noticed the same thing? What do you think of her new nose? Do you think she would have been as successful if she would have kept her old nose? By the way, she wored a prosthetic nose when she played Virginia Wolf.
I wonder if she had other body parts modified. Please be respectful, this question is serious and it is meaningul to me that each one of you tell me what you think. Thank you for taking some of your precious time to answer my question.
