Dear Friends! I post this for the many Carter Family fans here on youtube. I recorded wrote this song about half a year ago and recorded it on Dec. 28 or 29th 2008 - can't remember clearly. Here are the lyrics: (Carter Family pickin') It all started back in the summer of 1927 When Ralph Peer heard the songs of the cold world and heaven The Carters sang bout married girls, the Bible and the orphan child Singing with guitar and autoharp, keeping on the sunny side (Wildwood Flower) Maybelle, Sara and A.P. Everyone of them a pioneer After the original Family broke up in 1941 They had 300 recordings, every a special song. (Bury me under the weeping willow) Maybelle went on with Helen, Anita and June Members of the Opry, and never a goon no drinking and no drugs, singing the songs bout Henry Lee, love divine and the deep blue sea. (Lulu Walls) When A.P. was dying in 1960 his hands stopped shaking His daughter Janette felt her spirit awakin, she promised: „Dear daddy, Ill keep your music alive, thru all troubles, trials and strife (Will the circle be unbroken) Before she heard the deathbells ringing she promised her dad to keep on singing Keeping the music alive she loved best, Dear father, daddy, now youre at rest (There was a little ship) Then in 1974 when Janette and brother Joe opened the door The Carter Fold was ready to present Elizabeth Cotten, Johnny Cash 'n' Marty Stuart singing of the cotton bolls get rotten. (Poor Orphan Child) Mother Maybelle died in 1978, Sara couldnt live without her so she followed through the gate June and Johnny died in 2003 their families to see. (Stern old bachelor) Dale Jett, Janettes son, always sang with his wife Teresa at the Fold They drew too big crowds, which the hall couldnt hold Well, they added some seats and therere 600 now Janette kept that mountain music alive and didnt break the vow. (No depression) Old Joe went home in 2005, Janette followed him, so free Now theyre happy there, their sister Gladys to see Always a morally good program and handicapped were free, Never a dirty joke, singing of the willow tree.
