What's Donna Tartt Working on Now? According to Telegraph: "Donna Tartt's third novel will apparently be a psychological thriller featuring a group of people trapped in a lift. The 10-year gap between The Secret History (1992) and The Little Friend (2002) suggests that Ms Tartt knows all about getting stuck. No doubt she will reject such titles as "Out of Order" or "Shafted"."
According to Publisher's Weekly: "With The Little Friend finally complete, Tartt is now reported to be working on a version of the myth of Daedalus and Icarus, due to be published by Canongate as part of a series that will feature updated fables by Philip Pullman, Margaret Atwood, Jeanette Winterson and JM Coetzee, due out late 2004. She is also currently working on a new novel."
And from The Independent online edition: "Beyond the prize success and movie deals, the company has another potential bonanza up its sleeve. It plans a series of short fictions by leading writers (such as Philip Pullman and Jeanette Winterson) which will update myths of the ancient world. A highlight will be the modern version of Daedalus and Icarus promised by none other than Donna Tartt. Canongate already has a solid professional reputation for cultivating little friends in high places. After Martel's Booker scoop, there's no chance that its ambition and audacity will stay a secret history for much longer."
USAToday: Her next work is a novella based on the myth of Daedalus and Icarus, part of a collection of modern interpretations commissioned by Scottish publisher Canongate. And then? "A novel I don't want to talk about."

I would like to know when the movie based on Tartt's "The Secret History will be coming out. I really enjoyed the novel!

I emailed Canongate in Dec'04 about a release date for their updated myths ("due out late 2004"). Their response: "Donna Tartt has been contracted to write an introduction in one of our Myth's - which will be published 2006." This is much later and much less than originally promised (just an intro???). :(
