when the winter night falls slow & darkness writhes over my form alone in the leaves, & you sleeping hidden in the cold you are far away i cannot see you when everything sleeps hidden in winter ice - fallen angels glow in the night & the distant darkness of winter fills me. writhing they enfold me, wrapped in leaves, brittle as your wings... once my shroud. where is your embrace? what touch is left in your cold arms? as angels fall through icy skies, glass wings shattering as they whip the air & struggle against heavy winds, crashing into a dark-shadowed sea. tossing. writhing. screaming. in slow silence, into you...into me. my eyes see only your outline - your darkness hiding me. black hair over eyes. i clench. hold the shining lights inside. you'll never find me, never hide me, at 3a.m. when i search the depths of skin, find those angels clawing - crawling to release. you set them free - one by one as they fill my breath. "never touch angels, they'll burn your hands." i'll never slip into your eyes, your cold embrace again. your wings never trace my form, never lay in my shadow. never watch myself fall through those dark lips, falling, yes, falling. only reflections when my eyes close. only long winter poems for you. only thoughts of your shadow, & angels falling through glass shattering & water. this is you. & i am you. always & ever & forever...
