some bright star by Lake e. Lou

some bright star

you lay your frail body upon my bed
bright angel
eyes glittering up toward me through the dim night

the room is dark & cold & empty
but for a satin-sheathed bed of shadows
& a rain-stained window large on the night

our faces are lit by the light of streetlamps
two golden nimbuses trembling against the breath of winter
reflecting in the wet black street

it could be blood
that wet that glistens there
all glimmery & shimmery with its oily rainbows

earth blood rain blood
the blood from between your legs
which you tell me falls with the ebbing of the moon

were i to taste this
to caress this thickening
with my tongue
were i this blood to give you too

but i bleed not
i am not of you
yet not of he

i am another
but i could love you as truly

i would curl my tongue as a sheath
& envelop you

the rosy sea shell
curling its lips
beneath the heat of some bright star

i could learn you better

let me unfold this flower
let me caress it into bloom
with silken tongue & fingers
each petal pulse & glow

& your breath will catch & cry
& your thighs will clench
& your shell song will fill the night
with its sea crash thunder

bury me
bury my head & face & lips & hands
bury all of me
within you
