Download Writing Software yWriter Open this link in a new window
yWriter is designed to help authors put together the snippets, outlines, fragments and chapters that go into a finished novel. It uses plain text files within the project, which means that it's easy to get at your work using other programs, too. (No custom file formats here!) Best of all, yWriter is FREE! Features Organise your novel using a 'project'. Add files to the project, each containing a chapter. Add a summary to each file, showing the scenes in each chapter. Print out summary cards, showing the structure of your novel. Use plain text files with the built-in editor OR use yWriter with MS Word. Displays the word count for every file in the project, along with a total. Saves a log file every day, showing words per file and the total. (Tracks your progress)

Anagram Genius Open this link in a new window
Anagram Genius is anagram-generating software. Very simply it takes any text that you give it (a name, phrase or anything) and applies artificial intelligence techniques to find perfect rearrangements of those letters revealing hidden "truths" about the subject. The results are sometimes surreal, usually thought-provoking and almost always hilarious!

Batmemes Open this link in a new window
Batmemes is marketed as software for algorithmically tackling writer's block. It uses algorithms inspired by the thought-generating experiments of the Oulipo movement, which took place in France in the 1960's. Batmeme's configuration options allow you to highly customize your auto-generated ideas. For example, you might choose to tint your new thoughts with shades of batDNA from Bram Stoker's Dracula or the complete works of Poe. Or you might choose meme generation based not on the Oulipo method, but on synonyms, for a Babelfish-esque mind-expanding experience. The author calls Batmemes "the creative process on steroids."
