Love Poetry

I love reading

any books, plays, short stories, etc.
hard novels or easy stories i understand an get grasped in them

but i have a hard time understanding poetry

i just make nothing out of some lines and so i keep going and don’t find a purpose to it

i was reading this

My Last Duchess
Robert Browning

That’s my last duchess painted on the wall,
Looking as if she were alive. I call
That piece a wonder, now: Frà Pandolf’s hands
Worked busily a day, and there she stands.
Will’t please you sit and look at her? I said
“Frà Pandolf” by design, for never read
Strangers like you that pictured countenance,
The depth and passion of its earnest glance,
But to myself they turned (since none puts by
The curtain I have drawn for you, but I)

They keep deleting my account, even though, and I know that it may be hard to understand, I love them. They touched me, sometimes privately, and sometimes, just on the internet. But, I have to have some place to go, where irreverance and lust for life have a meaning outside of “coke or pepsi?” If I write a poem about any subject you come up with, will you accept me into this community?

i wrote a lyric one time
for a girl
named carrie
she, makes it hard
for me to think.
and with her every
twist and turn
i find her
irresistable.
when i was a girl
and my father was a warrior
we , that is my family
stood
up
against
everyone.
some joker in christchurch
wanted to say
something. sounded like hate
but me papa
and me mum
protect me from
someone
we see on tv
maybe just an arab
or a repulican
or a pope
who shows their hate
and never sees
that we are all
just animals
well, at least us libras
there you go madame s
springtime meant more for me
than some of my friends
i had to study
i watched bobby
who i had a crush on
play with linda
who i hated
and wished that i
were so young

so i talk with jesus
at least him i
can understand
he is magnificent
compared to bobby
i go to church
and wait for god
to talk with me
because
I have a lot to say
back

delicate joys, shades of sadness,
attitudes veiled, posed smiles,
exposing disguising bluster.

Poetry unwritten,,,
nature’s voice, ocean whispers,
bird’s song, clouds skittering,
universal dynamic actions.

Poetry recalls,,,
mom’s wishes, babies cries,
lovers moans, sorrowful sighs,
longing for understanding.

Poetry creates,,,
fantasy flights, rhythms tuned,
moons glowing, desires designed,
love captured anew.

Poetry written,,,
mere thoughts, a conversation,
revealing much, voicing yourself,
with the world.

In non-fiction, it could be a guru style how to book about getting ahead in life.

In fiction it could be sci-fi or speculative fiction or a spy thriller, or a terrorism thriller.

Or it could be a book of poetry, or wit, or humor, or bon mots.

I used to love to clean, and now I have so much more fun working outside in garden or doing fun things. I spend a lot of time on my computer with games and writing poetry. I love to read and I am almost 49….

I am new to YA. Since I love Poetry, I decided to check out the poems posted and see what kind of feedback is given. I went back a month or so.

Anyway, in the midst of my perusing, I found myself drawn into the interaction between two YA members. Seems one is a 48 year old man who has been married for 26 years, though he admits to lusing after the opposite sex. Admittedly, he was abused as a child and often contemplates suicide. Themes often refected in his poetry. Then there is the gal (a member since 2/07) who claims in her profile to be a sweet, caring, smart, creative,and funny 20 year girl. But the more I read, I found myself sucked into their soap opera. Imagine my surprise when the married man proposed via a poem to girl several days ago. And she said, “Yes.” When asked about his wife, he mentioned that she didn’t want kids and he did. It took him 26 years to realize that was an issue?

Am I the only one who thinks this girl is crazy to consider marrying this guy???
Annabella-I noticed that. Is plagiarism a big problem here? I really can’t abide that. Are we allowed to point out those who do it? Thanks
