Criticism on my poem and advice on if I should take a career in writing poetry?

Letting go

Love is hard to leave
Letting go is harder than seems
A sweet gentle is all you might miss
But to someone else it’s heavenly bliss
Letting go doesn’t mean to stop loving
It means to stop hurting

Forgetting is hard to do
A kiss can’t be forgotten
A touch is easy to miss
To love and forget is highly impossible
Letting go doesn’t mean to forget the memories
It means to stop letting them haunt you
There was some spelling mistakes this should be better: Letting go

Love is hard to leave
Letting go is harder than it seems
A sweet gentle touch is all you might miss
But to someone else it’s heavenly bliss
Letting go doesn’t mean to stop loving
It means to stop hurting

Forgetting is hard to do
A kiss can’t be forgotten
A touch is easy to miss
To love and forget is highly impossible
Letting go doesn’t mean to forget the memories
It means to stop letting them haunt you

Can you offer some advice on writing poetry?

I am a 15 year old girl. I am pretty artistic. I do great when writing essays and short stories. But I just cannot get into the flow of writing poetry. I love to read it, it’s beautiful. But it seems when I try to create a poem, it’s just cheesy and NOT GOOD. I am in a class that requires me to write a few poems a week and I am struggling. Advice and tips would be great! Thank you!

*p.s.- If you can’t help me, feel free to name your favorite poet so I can check him out(:

*btw here is a poem I wrote. No, I’m not very proud of it, I’m just showing you my abilities and how bad I need help. lol

The sun rises once again
Though my heart is still
I am a cactus
Living day by day
Absorbing enough to survive
Dry and unchanged
But the sun still sets
My voice is the sound
Of a falling tree in a lone forest
There but unheard
Still the wind blows on

Can anyone give me the summary of Ovid’s “Art of love” poems?

I have been trying to read the all three books, but there are full of vocabularies that I do not know, and I have no idea what the heck he is talking about.

I am doing this for my homework, which it asks “Give your overall perception and analysis of the art of love in pagan Roman culture as presented in Ovid’s poem.” And “Compare and contrast what Ovid says about the subject of love catching and making with the “rules” of the game yourself-as a representative of your culture—go by. For example, what of Ovid’s advice do you agree with, or disagree with? Are you bemused or disgusted by anything the poet says or recommends in relation to your own “ways of the hunt?”

I am told to write an essay on this.

Please help!
