Love Poetry

I am a 15 year old girl. I am pretty artistic. I do great when writing essays and short stories. But I just cannot get into the flow of writing poetry. I love to read it, it’s beautiful. But it seems when I try to create a poem, it’s just cheesy and NOT GOOD. I am in a class that requires me to write a few poems a week and I am struggling. Advice and tips would be great! Thank you!

The sun rises once again
Though my heart is still
I am a cactus
Living day by day
Absorbing enough to survive
Dry and unchanged
But the sun still sets
My voice is the sound
Of a falling tree in a lone forest
There but unheard
Still the wind blows on

We celebrated this day

Today I celebrate alone
no wine, but love and poetry
still fill my heart for you

Romancing Fear
Fear was romancing her
smiling at her
It had danced with her soul,
lingered in her heart
What was she to do but follow it.

The Great Love
Dropping all senses
completely letting go
she fell
fell so deeply
into your arms
you hold her up
you embrace her nakedness
her humanity & sin
her unknowing
that is what you do.

Home
Home is a haven
a safety net
catching me
holding me
but it doesn’t let me go
trapped inside
its tangled mess
i wallow helplessly around
cut me lose let me be
but to long that net has held me
im scard now to see
where life could take me

Butter
Worse than butter
his tone of voice saturates
deep into me
clogging my arteries
with its poison
slowly stopping my heart.

Numbness
Too long i’ve gone alone
not trying
avoiding
forgetting
excusing my way into nothingness
nothing satisfies
numbness feels absolute
then you appear and jolt me back to life.

an emotional affair. . . .I call it a love affair, cuz it was there whether some one else was or wasnt. It was patient, kind, and caring. I heard this poem ages ago, it came out of a teenage poetry book but i loved it though i cant remember many of teh words i know that it is about the heart breaking and how it finds bits of wire to mend itself with and im sure the last(ish) line says something like teach it to love again or learn how to love again and it might have a line in it that says something like if ones heart is broken a thousand times a day. I’m sorry if im being too vague but i really cant remember but i desperatly need to know what it is Thanks xx

LOVE POETRY! IT FILLS MY SOUL. IF I COULD WRITE POETRY THIS WOULD BE MY GOAL. I’m in love with a guy and he doesn’t know why. I cry when ever I think of him. I just want to be with him. I need to tell him how I feel. I know I will die if not. I feel ugly and retched inside. He has a smile that melts my heart. I have loved him from the start. We say hello and goodbye. I can’t say it I’m too shy. If only he would tell me yes or no. In the rain, sunshine and snow. I would give if all I have, if only he would be mine. I tell I him I love him day after day. But only in my heart for these words my tongue it can not say. Yes I love him will it ever be OK?

This poem I wrote for you and me. To make loves understanding easy. So try to give a chance for it’s knowing love to have romance!

So I’m looking for poems to have recited at my wedding. I’m a HUGE Edgar Allen Poe fan- (before you go Oh my God that is so morbid to have Poe read at your wedding- read it first)

Thou wouldst be loved?— then let thy heart
From its present pathway part not!
Being everything which now thou art,
Be nothing which thou art not.
So with the world thy gentle ways,
Thy grace, thy more than beauty,
Shall be an endless theme of praise,
And love- a simple duty.

So, I’m most defintely going to use this one, does anyone have any suggestions for others? Doesn’t have to be Poe.
