Anaïs Nin was a French-born writer known for her diary writings and erotica. Born in 1903, she was the daughter of Cuban musicians who moved to Paris when she was very young. She began writing at a young age and published her first book, D. H. Lawrence: An Unprofessional Study, in 1932. In the 1940s, she gained a reputation for her diary writings, which were frank and revealing accounts of her personal life and relationships. In addition to her diary writings, Nin is also known for her erotica, including the novels Delta of Venus and Little Birds. She passed away in 1977 at the age of 74.
