Iambic heptameter is a
meter that has seven
metrical feet per line. The stress of the foot is placed on the
first, short syllable, followed by an unstressed longer
pentameter, for instance, which is a meter with five feet per line, and
trochaic meter, where
the longer syllable precedes the short one.
