Blind Finish-the-Story writing game

Blind finish the story is a modified version of a the well known finish the story writing game. To play, you will need at least three people, although the more the better.

Start with a stack of index cards. The first person to play writes a circled "1" in the top right corner of the front of card. They then write the begining of a story on the card. The may not write on the back side, but can write as much or as little as they want on the front. After they are done with their card, they pass the card to the second player.

The second player takes a blank index card and writes a circled "2" in the top right corner of the front of the card. They then continue the story where the first index card left off. Like the first player, they may not write on the back of the card, but can write as much or as little as the want on the front. They then pass only the card marked "2" to the next player, placing the card marked "1" face down on a table, begining a stack of finished cards.

The next player does the same thing the second player did, marking their card "3" and returning the card marked "2" to the stack placed on the stack on the table before passing their card to the next player. Play continues in this manner, each player adding 1 to the number they write on their card.

Before begining the game, the players should agree on how the game will end. The easiest way to end the game is to decide upon a set number of turns each player will have. Three is a good number to use the first time you play. You may, on the other hand, decide to have no preset ending point and let any player decide that the precious player's card was a good place finish to the story.

After the game is complete, choose someone to read the index cards in their numbered order.

Because each player is blind to part of the tale, the story is allowed to move unanchored in a surreal dreamlike manner. It is a great way for a group of friends and fellow writers to inspire each other or just have a bit of fun.
