Comte de Lautréamont, whose real name was Isidore-Lucien Ducasse, was a French poet and novelist who is best known for his book Les Chants de Maldoror. The book, which is a surreal and grotesque work of fantasy, was a major influence on the Surrealist movement and has been widely studied by scholars of literature. Lautréamont was a mysterious and enigmatic figure, and little is known about his life or his work.
