ANDREW ACKERS - HARP (s) SOLO - Aleatoric music

Final Section of ten sections of a three-movements contemporary classical (aleatoric) suite. --- ANDREW ACKERS: •Location: New York, New York, United States •Genre: Classical » Aleatoric Music Editor's review: Is harp the perfect instrument for chance music? Andrew Ackers' "Harp(s) Solo" argues, "Yes." The MIDI-based harp adds percussive sweetness to the piece's elegant dissonance and angular phrasing. From there, take a step back into the compositional process with Ackers' "Etude in Twenty-ninths." Biography Born in 1953, Andrew Ackers is the son of the composer and pianist Andrew Ackers (Andy Ackers - father) who studied at the Yale School of Music on scholarship and was one of the most popular recording artists during the 1950's and 1960's. Andrew Ackers (father) is deceased since 1978. Originally with the Tommy Dorsy and Jimmy Dorsy bands, Andy Ackers composed conducted and played as an accompanist for a number of famous singers such as Jane Morgan, Jane Froman, Kate Smith, and Mindy Carson. As a studio musician and recording artiist, he recorded with nearly every famous singer at the time, including, Nat King Cole, Johnny Mathis, Steve Lawrence, Eddie Gormet, Tony Bennett, Robert Goulet, Brenda Lee, Perry Como, Frank Sinatra, Barbara Striesand and many, many others. A student at the well-recognized Turtle Bay Music School as a child, Andrew Ackers (son) played Bach, Chopin, Mozart, Schumann, and other classical composers in a number of recitals as a student pianist and composer. As a young adult he worked with his father who studied with the contemporaries of Bela Bartok, Zoltan Kodi and Tibor Serly. As an adult, he has studied with musical professionals, including a professional song, musical playwright and Masters of Music and Composition from Julliard. Andrew Ackers, an Estate member of ASCAP, has more recently begun his studies and work with composing, arranging and producing contemporary classical music, much in the aleatoric style. And, has arranged and orchestrated a number of his father's unpublished compositions. Andrew Ackers resides in New York City, has devoted his life since young adulthood to his faith, the arts, writing, editing, and music. In addition to much of his own thus far definitively unpublished works, he has developed musical and educational programs. One included an experimental two-year project where as a volunteer with an Occupational Therapist he was able to teach young children with special needs who were non-verbal music and music history. The program was a form of musical therapy that used the study of musical compositions of all types to stimulate verbal and writing abilities. At the conclusion of the project, all children were able to speak and some able to write to varying degrees. Some were also uplined as capable students when they entered elementary classes. He continues as a writer and editor but also as a composer. The themes of all his work are of mostly moral context and the purposes of his art are for praise, thanksgiving and sharing of the gifts and very special perspectives he feels he has been blessed with throughout his life. --- http://orbesonoro.blogspot.com

John & Hannah Thornton / Don't Give Up

re-upload Oh gosh, this took me a lot :D I hope you like it a bit ^_^ Kisses :*** music: Fryderyk Chopin - Nocturne Op. 27 No. 1 in C sharp minor Kate Bush & Peter Gabriel - Don't Give Up more quotes here if anyone was interested :DDD "He turned away from her, and covered his face with his hands. 'I can't think,' said she, with gloomy defiance in her tone, 'how it comes about. Here is my boy--good son, just man, tender heart--and he fails in all he sets his mind upon: he finds a woman to love, and she cares no more for his affection than if he had been any common man; he labours, and his labour comes to nought. Other people prosper and grow rich, and hold their paltry names high and dry above shame.' 'Shame never touched me,' said he, in a low tone: but she went on. 'I sometimes have wondered where justice was gone to, and now I don't believe there is such a thing in the world,--now you are come to this; you, my own John Thornton, though you and I may be beggars together--my own dear son!' She fell upon his neck, and kissed him through her tears. 'Mother!' said he, holding her gently in his arms, 'who has sent me my lot in life, both of good and of evil?' She shook her head. She would have nothing to do with religion just then. 'Mother,' he went on, seeing that she would not speak, 'I, too, have been rebellious; but I am striving to be so no longer. Help me, as you helped me when I was a child. Then you said many good words--when my father died, and we were sometimes sorely short of comforts--which we shall never be now; you said brave, noble, trustful words then, mother, which I have never forgotten, though they may have lain dormant. Speak to me again in the old way, mother. Do not let us have to think that the world has too much hardened our hearts. If you would say the old good words, it would make me feel something of the pious simplicity of my childhood. I say them to myself, but they would come differently from you, remembering all the cares and trials you have had to bear.' 'I have had a many,' said she, sobbing, 'but none so sore as this. To see you cast down from your rightful place! I could say it for myself, John, but not for you. Not for you! God has seen fit to be very hard on you, very.' She shook with the sobs that come so convulsively when an old person weeps. The silence around her struck her at last; and she quieted herself to listen. No sound. She looked. Her son sate by the table, his arms thrown half across it, his head bent face downwards. 'Oh, John!' she said, and she lifted his face up. Such a strange, pallid look of gloom was on it, that for a moment it struck her that this look was the forerunner of death; but, as the rigidity melted out of the countenance and the natural colour returned, and she saw that he was himself once again, all worldly mortification sank to nothing before the consciousness of the great blessing that he himself by his simple existence was to her. She thanked God for this, and this alone, with a fervour that swept away all rebellious feelings from her mind." (Elizabeth Gaskell, North and South, Chapter L - Changes in Milton)
